I even started over again (it looked like Win10 got stuck in a rebooting loop when I tried to restore back to Win 7, I gave up after about the tenth or so reboot and deleted the partition from the drive), recopying windows 7 and then upgrading to Windows 10 over again only to end up with the exact same result. With all the startup programs and services disabled I still get the same black screen with explorer refusing to start so it isn't any of those causing the conflict. I can start up in safe mode and choose between having the screen display everything correctly using the correct display driver but without networking or I can get networking but with everything on the screen stretched out of shape.ģ. I can ctrl-alt-del to start the task manager and run anything I like successfully from there except explorer which shuts itself down again immediately.Ģ. All the searches I have done for this problem always bring up other black screen problems that don't appear to match the one I have.ġ. With Windows 10 installed when I login I end up with a black screen (except for the applications that load during startup).
